Philanthropists Walter and Leonore Annenberg envisioned Sunnylands as a place for world leaders to meet to discuss issues of national and international importance. Since completion in 1966, the estate has welcomed eight U.S. presidents, numerous world leaders, noted intellectuals, Hollywood celebrities, and company executives.

A place of history, hospitality, and diplomacy, the former estate of Ambassadors Walter and Leonore Annenberg, Sunnylands has persevered as a sanctuary for civil discourse and international relations. Open to the public, guests are invited to learn about its continuing legacy and explore its nine acres of desert gardens.

Rancho Mirage’s premier, outdoor shopping, dining, and entertainment complex, The River offers a selection of familiar restaurants like P.F. Chang's, The Cheesecake Factory, and Five Guys; Century Theatres, with over ten screens; and a Dave & Buster’s. The River also hosts regular events in its open-air amphitheater, and it has a large Tesla supercharging station.

Part of the Rancho Mirage Library campus, the observatory features a CDK 700 telescope capable of penetrating into deep space and distant galaxies, a rotating dome that opens to the night sky, and an outdoor observation deck where visitors can set up their own telescopes. Free to the public, guests are encouraged to sign up for a stargazing party or book a tour.
